Lion Rock Peak

Lion Rock Peak, Northern Territories, Hong Kong
22 August 2013
3 Hours

Comments: Next time when you get in the taxi, remember to be a bit more specific about your destination. Lion Rock Country Park is quite big with several entrances

This was my planned route...

Photocopied from "The Heritage Hikers Guide to Hong Kong", this detailed map!! was my planed rout for the day. However after exiting at Wong Tai Sin MTR station I could not find the No.18 minibus so jumped in a taxi and ask him to take me to Lion Rock Country Park.

After getting my bearings...a change of plan. This was the actual route a took

Starting point

Heading up towards this

Ahh...that's why its called Lion Peak

1 hour 10 minutes to the summit

I can highly recommend not buying these, they taste of nothing and have the texture of cardboard and immediately suck all of the moisture in your mouth.

View from the top

Heading back down to Sha Tin Pass

Some wonderful wildlife along the way

I did not expect to see this

I read afterwards that these Long Tailed Macaques are descendants of Monkeys released in the 1920's

This guy in the pylon was the lookout and as I continued down the trail he banged on the pylon to alert the rest on the group.

After reaching the end of the trail I descended through the city looking for an MTR station to take me back to HK Central, thank you Google maps
